Luke Gabriel Truxler
Our little baby Luke Gabriel passed away on Wednesday, June 8. It's hard to put into words how hard this is right now, but the love, prayers, and support that we've received from all of you -- our dear friends and family -- have made what seems impossible, bearable.
When we first found out that the left side of Luke's heart was smaller than the right, we were in complete shock. The life we had envisioned -- one with a healthy little baby -- disappeared. Our happiness was replaced with a real fear of the unknown. We waited weeks between each appointment only to be told that things weren't getting any better. Then on May 31, we were told that little Luke's heart was beyond repair. He wasn't going to make it.
As devastating as it was to hear this news, we knew that little Luke wouldn't leave us. We named him after the angel Gabriel and Saint Luke, the patron saint of physicians and surgeons, whose feast day is October 18, little Luke's due date. During each hospital visit, we felt that we were guided to the very best doctors and nurses. A special thanks especially to Dr. Wayne Tworetsky, Dr. Joseph Kuebler, Dr. Judy Estroff, and Donna Morash. We know that our little guy couldn't have been in better hands.
And now we know that he's looking down on us. Our dear friend Sheila passed away when we were only 23 years old. She would've been the most amazing of mothers and now we feel that our little Luke is in her hands -- he's her baby to take care of. And he'll be our little angel forever.
Thank you all so much for your positive thoughts and constant prayers. They've helped more than you'll ever know.
Love always,
Erica & Rob
