Welcome to the Woenker's
The Center for Advanced Intestinal Rehabilitation (CAIR) with the Boston's Children's Hospital is one of the few rehabilitation centers treating, researching, and caring for those whose lives are affected by a congenital birth defect known as Intestinal Malrotation. Intestinal Malrotation affects 1 in 500 babies in the United States alone. Sometimes, the birth defect is discovered early in infancy. Other times, people discover that they have this birth defect later into adulthood. Intestinal Malrotation occurs between 5-10 weeks of gestation, and the reason why it occurs is unknown. Treatment and surgery is debated among many doctors because there is limited research and information out there for how to handle this birth defect.
