Yamil's 16th Birthday in Honor of Dr. Ron Lacro
I appreciate you joining me in thanking my cardiologist, Dr. Ron Lacro for taking great care of me since I was two years old. In stead of giving me a gift for my birthday, I hope you will make a donation to support Dr. Lacro's amazing work helping kids with Marfan syndrome.
My mom always reminds me how lucky we are to have a world-expert in Marfan syndrome leading my care - she's right! Dr. Lacro is one of a handful pediatricians in the country with specialty training in both cardiology and clinical genetics. In 1991, he founded Boston Children’s Cardiovascular Genetics Program, the first of its kind. Today he and his team cares for patients and families affected by Marfan syndrome and other genetic disorders from all over New England and beyond. Dr. Lacro has helped my parents find the right balance in my "treatment care plan" to keep my heart healthy while letting me participate as many activities as possible. so I could feel like everyone else.
He has kept a close watch on my heart. I have been seeing him twice a year for as long as I can remember. Soon after my birthday this year I will need to have surgery on my heart. Dr. Lacro has done caring for me and taking innovative approached to delay this surgery for as long as possible.
