The Philip Rosenberg Family Fund for Pediatric Cardiology
We are proud to announce the creation of The Philip Rosenberg Family Fund for Pediatric Cardiology. The fund is named after Neal's father, who never met his five grandchildren but would have been a strong advocate for improving pediatric medical care. The launch coincides with the Bat Mitzvah of our daughter Peri, who has been a patient at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) since birth. When she was three months old she underwent open-heart surgery at BCH to correct a congenital heart defect. She continues to be followed by doctors at the Heart Center and has benefitted from their care and cutting-edge research. Today, she is a thriving teenager with a keen sense of humor and strong moral compass.
In the years since Peri's initial procedure, doctors and researchers have meaningfully advanced the science behind pediatric valve replacements. At BCH, Dr. Diego Porras has pioneered new techniques for doing valve replacements in the catheterization lab rather than in the operating room. This helps to lower risks and accelerate recovery times compared to traditional surgery. His innovations will help many patients like Peri achieve outstanding long-term outcomes while avoiding the rigors of open-heart surgery.
We are thrilled to support Dr. Porras' research in cardiac catheterization, and we are optimistic that his work will improve the lives of many young cardiac patients in the years and decades to come.
We feel fortunate to be able to give back to the hospital that has taken such wonderful care of our family. We appreciate your support!
Love,
Yona and Neal Rosenberg
