The Beggs Lab and My Bat Mitzvah
Dear friends and family,
I learned a lot while preparing for my Bat Mitzvah - about hebrew and the bible and what it means to be a 13 year old in the Jewish religion. I learned that it's not just my responsibility to live in the world, but to try to make it a better place, a concept known as Tikkun Olum.
For my Bat Mitzvah Project, I have worked with the Beggs Laboratory at Boston Children's Hospital in order to be a resource for families with young children who have recently been diagnosed with muscle conditions like mine. My hope is that I can answer their questions and make it a little easier to navigate the personal and emotional side of what they're experiencing.
I'm also hoping to help raise money for the lab and their pioneering research into the causes and therapies for rare neuromuscular conditions. The more we can all work together, bringing together real-life challenges with scientific advances that can make a difference, the stronger we'll all be. Any donation of any amount would be so greatly appreciated.
With love and thanks for all of your support,
Zoe xo
