I'm returning for my 3rd Yoga Reaches Out event to help kids and families at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Nearly ten years ago my daughter Annie was born and she wasn’t breathing. While everyone can imagine just how frightening this was, yoga practitioners understand and appreciate on a daily basis the importance of breath. One of yoga’s eight limbs, pranayama, is specifically focused on breathwork and translates to “life force.” I had not yet found my yoga practice at the time, but I will never forget the relief I felt, the steadiness and strength gained when the NICU at Brigham & Women’s and care team at Boston Children’s Hospital helped Annie find her breath. When I began my regular practice, my strength and steadiness grew and I developed a deeper appreciation for gratitude, self-awareness, letting go and of course, breath.
This year I’m excited to dedicate my practice and fundraising efforts to my amazing daughter who turns 10 (!) in June. Thank you to all my friends and family for the decade of support and for considering to donate to this incredible cause!
