This year, I’m thrilled to be participating in Yoga Reaches Out to help kids and families at Boston Children’s Hospital. On April 28, I’ll join a community of more than 1,000 for an inspirational day of yoga, music, and fundraising—all to bring lifesaving answers and hope to the sickest children from around the world.
As some of you may know, I became a certified pilates instructor last year and have started teaching classes at The Studio at Mattapoisett Wellness Center within the past few months. My practice began in the early months of the pandemic, where I was primarily moving and practicing by myself. As the world has opened back up, opportunities to become part of amazing, supportive communities, like MWC, has brought my practice to greater heights than I could have ever imagined. Supporting other community members in their wellness journeys has been the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I’m extremely blessed to be a part of this group that is so passionate about helping others, especially those who need it the most.
The biggest thing I’ve learned in this journey is that every single thing counts, no matter how small it may seem. Five minutes of movement is infinitely better than no minutes when a 60 minute class is not feasible. The impact even a small change can have on the body and on the mind is a message I hope to spread everywhere I go. The same message applies here: every single dollar counts and makes a difference to the families receiving help, no matter how small it may seem.
Every dollar I raise goes to the hospital’s Every Child Fund, which fuels breakthrough research, family support programs, and vital services to help patients and their families heal and thrive. Your gift will:
- give children battling the most complex diseases treatments they can’t find anywhere else
- fuel 3,600+ researchers working to find cures at the world’s leading pediatric research hospital
- help patient-families (many of whom travel from far away to find answers) with urgent needs, including housing, food and clothing
- provide wellness services like Reiki, yoga, meditation, and a safe place to simply exhale for families facing the stress of caring for a critically ill child
- and so much more.
Thank you so much for your time and support!
