When I was 22, a very close friend gave birth to a boy and a lot of hope for his future. Sadly, that future would never be because he was born with a hole in his heart.
Which is ironic because when he died six weeks later, that's what he left behind in all those who loved him.
Fast forward 30 years and being born with this defect is no longer a fatal sentence.
Researchers like those at Boston Children's Hospital have developed incredibly innovative techniques that are saving some of the sickest children in the world.
And after hearing how another friend- Heidi Kassner- and her family were directly impacted by these life-saving measures, I knew I had to join Yoga Reaches Out for their yearly fundraising event.
- give children battling the most complex diseases treatments they can’t find anywhere else;
- help children in your town and across the world get a second chance;
- fund 3,600+ researchers working to find cures at the world’s leading pediatric research hospital;
- help patient-families (many of whom travel from far away to find answers) with urgent needs, including housing, food and clothing;
- bring crucial care to families through not one, but four outpatient psychiatry clinics;
- provide wellness services like Reiki, yoga and a safe place to simply exhale for families facing the stress of caring for a critically ill child;
- and so much more.
